He has served as head blog writer and editor for HealthCare C-Suite​,​ as a reported for HealthCareBusiness News for ten years​,​ and as a blog writer for Open Minds in 2024. He now lives​,​ freelance writes and blogs on the Western Slope of Colorado with his wife​,​ who - on most days - loves him more than her horse. He serves as a volunteer adaptive ski instructor with Colorado Discover Ability​,​ teaching clients with disabilities - from veterans to kids - to downhill ski. He is also an award-winning​,​ commercially successful photographer. John authored the novels Rotors (2021) and Medical Necessity (2016)​,​ which one reviewer said was "one of the best books I read in 2016". He is a U.S. Navy veteran and DINFOS-trained killer (yes​,​ that is an inside Navy joke...)​,​ where he served as a journalist and broadcaster aboard the aircraft carrier USS America.
